Etta James

Etta James was an American singer known for a powerful, emotive voice that blended blues, rhythm and blues, soul, gospel, and jazz. Her expressive delivery and versatility allowed her to perform intimate ballads and gritty, uptempo numbers, and she maintained a long recording and performing career from the 1950s through the early 21st century. She died in 2012.
