Edwin Starr

Edwin Starr was an American soul singer noted for a gritty, powerful vocal delivery and impassioned performances. Associated with Motown's Gordy label in the late 1960s and 1970s, his work blended soul, R&B, and funk elements and included politically charged material, notably his recording of the protest song "War". He remained active as a performer over several decades and died in 2003.
