DMX (Earl Simmons) was an American rapper and actor known for a gruff, urgent vocal delivery, raw autobiographical street narratives, and a confrontational performance style. He was closely associated with the Ruff Ryders collective and frequent collaborations with producer Swizz Beatz, maintained a public presence in both music and film, and died in 2021.
