Divinyls

Australian rock band formed in 1981 and active until 1996, Divinyls combined gritty, guitar-driven rock with elements of new wave and pop. The group was centered on the distinctive, expressive vocals and confrontational stage presence of lead singer Christina Amphlett and the angular guitar work of Mark McEntee, producing music that balanced raw energy with melodic hooks. They were a notable presence in the Australian rock scene of the 1980s and early 1990s.
