Digital Underground

Digital Underground was an American hip hop group from Oakland, formed in 1987 and active through 2008. Led by rapper and producer Shock G, the group mixed West Coast rap with party-oriented, funk-sampling production that drew on Parliament-Funkadelic sounds and theatrical, character-driven performances such as Shock G's alter ego Humpty Hump. They were noted for playful, humorous lyrics and sample-heavy beats, and they helped introduce Tupac Shakur early in his career.
