Dexys Midnight Runners

Dexys Midnight Runners are a British band formed in 1978 and led by singer Kevin Rowland. They fused northern soul and pop with folk and Celtic influences, often arranging songs around punchy horns and occasional strings and featuring raw, emotive vocals and theatrical delivery. Their lineup and style shifted over time, but they remained notable for brass-driven arrangements, rhythmic energy, and lyrics that drew on working-class themes, giving them a distinctive place in the UK music scene of the late 1970s and 1980s.
