De La Soul

De La Soul is an American hip hop trio formed in 1987, known for a sample-forward, eclectic sound that blends jazz, funk, soul, and psychedelic textures with playful, witty, and socially conscious lyrics. Associated with the Native Tongues collective and early work with producer Prince Paul, the group is often noted for inventive, collage-like production techniques and for broadening the stylistic possibilities of alternative hip hop in the late 1980s and 1990s.
