Chairmen of the Board

Chairmen of the Board is an American soul group formed in 1967, noted for smooth vocal harmonies and a blend of up-tempo R&B and balladry. Emerging from the Detroit-area soul scene, they were associated with songwriters and producers Holland-Dozier-Holland and the Invictus label, and their recordings combine pop-soul production, memorable melodies, and tight ensemble singing. The group was led by Clarence "General" Johnson and is representative of the late 1960s and early 1970s crossover soul sound.
