Carpenters

Carpenters were an American sibling duo formed in 1968 and active through 1983, centered on Karen Carpenter's warm contralto and Richard Carpenter's arranging, piano playing, and production. Their music blended soft pop and adult contemporary with smooth, melodic vocal lines, close harmonies, and polished arrangements that often included orchestral textures and restrained percussion. They were a prominent presence on mainstream radio in the 1970s and are noted for a gentle, melodic sound and meticulous studio craft.
