Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band was an American group led by Don Van Vliet, active from 1965 to 1982. Their music combined Delta blues, free jazz, avant-garde and rock influences into rhythmically complex, often angular songs characterized by Vliet's raw, idiosyncratic vocals, tight ensemble playing, unusual time signatures, and surreal lyrical imagery.
