Candido

Candido (Cándido Camero) was a Cuban-born percussionist who spent much of his career working in the United States and died in 2020. He was known as a conga player and percussion innovator who helped popularize playing multiple conga drums and for blending Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz and other North American styles; his approach emphasized polyrhythmic layering, inventive hand technique, and a melodic sense of the congas.
