Cabaret Voltaire

Cabaret Voltaire, formed in 1973 in Sheffield, England, is an experimental electronic band noted for early use of tape loops, sampling and found sounds within a post-punk and industrial context. Their work ranges from abrasive, collage-like pieces to later rhythmically driven electronic and dance-influenced material, built from analog electronics, tape manipulation and synthesizers. The group is frequently referenced as an influence on later strands of industrial, electronic and techno music.
