Boogie Down Productions

Boogie Down Productions was an American hip hop group formed in 1986, originally centered on DJ Scott La Rock and rapper KRS-One. Their music featured sparse, hard-hitting beats, prominent DJ techniques, and lyrics that mixed gritty street narratives with increasingly explicit social and political commentary after Scott La Rock's death. The group drew on reggae and dancehall influences and is often cited for helping shape late 1980s approaches to lyricism and message-driven hip hop.
