Bobby Womack

Bobby Womack was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist known for a blend of soul, R&B and gospel-influenced vocals. He began performing with his family as the Womack Brothers, later worked as a guitarist for Sam Cooke, and developed a solo career marked by raw, emotional singing, gritty guitar work and songwriting that drew on soul, blues and rock influences. He recorded and collaborated widely and remained a distinctive voice in American soul music until his death in 2014.
