Bob Marley & The Wailers
Bob Marley & The Wailers were a Jamaican band led by singer-songwriter Bob Marley, active from 1970 to 1981. Their music blended roots reggae with elements of ska and rocksteady, characterized by syncopated guitar skanks, prominent melodic basslines, steady drum grooves, organ and vocal harmonies. Lyrical themes frequently drew on Rastafarian beliefs, social and political commentary, and calls for unity, and the group's sound played a central role in bringing reggae to audiences outside Jamaica.
