Blind Willie Johnson

Blind Willie Johnson was an American gospel blues singer and slide guitarist active in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He combined a raw, gravelly vocal delivery with resonant bottleneck slide guitar to perform spirituals and religious-themed blues, producing a stark, emotive sound that has been cited as influential on later blues and roots musicians. He died in 1945.
