Big Black

Big Black was an American band formed in 1982 by guitarist and songwriter Steve Albini, active until 1987. The group was known for a harsh, abrasive sound built from heavily distorted guitars, angular song structures, and the prominent use of a drum machine instead of a live drummer, paired with confrontational and often bleak lyrical themes. Their mechanical percussion and aggressive sonics were notable in the 1980s underground and are commonly associated with developments in noise rock and post-hardcore.
