Barrett Strong

Barrett Strong was an American R&B and soul singer and songwriter associated with the formative Motown period. He began as a recording artist for Tamla Records and later became a prolific songwriter at Motown, often collaborating with producer Norman Whitfield; his songwriting helped push the label toward grittier and more socially aware soul. He died in 2023.
