Asleep at the Wheel

Asleep at the Wheel is an American band formed in 1969 that helped revive and popularize Western swing. Their sound blends country, swing, and jazz influences with prominent fiddles, steel guitar and horns, producing upbeat, danceable arrangements often drawn from the repertoire and style of Texas Western swing pioneers like Bob Wills. Led for many years by guitarist and vocalist Ray Benson, the group is known for its traditional roots instrumentation and a rotating lineup focused on classic country and swing arrangements.
