Adam and the Ants

Adam and the Ants were a British band formed in 1977 and fronted by Adam Ant (Stuart Goddard). Their music moved from punk roots into a distinctive blend of post-punk, new wave and pop, often built around propulsive, tribal-influenced percussion, layered melodies and a theatrical, costume-driven stage presentation. The group was active until 1982 and is notable for its strong visual identity and rhythmic approach to pop songwriting.
