A Tribe Called Quest

A Tribe Called Quest was an American hip hop group from Queens, New York, formed in 1985 and active through 2017. The group's music blended jazz-influenced, sample-based production with conversational and introspective rap delivery from Q-Tip and Phife Dawg, supported by Ali Shaheed Muhammad on production and DJing. Their sound emphasized warm jazz samples, laid-back grooves, and rhythmic interplay between MCs, and they were associated with the Native Tongues collective.
