Weather Report

Weather Report was an American jazz fusion band active from 1971 to 1986, co-founded by keyboardist Joe Zawinul and saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Their sound blended jazz improvisation with electric instruments, funk and world-music rhythms, layered textures and extensive use of synthesizers and electric bass, and later lineups featured bassists such as Jaco Pastorius whose fretless technique became a notable element. The group explored collective improvisation and studio-crafted arrangements that played a significant role in the development of jazz fusion.
