The Cannonball Adderley Quintet

The Cannonball Adderley Quintet was the primary working group led by alto saxophonist Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, often featuring his brother Nat Adderley on cornet. The ensemble blended hard bop and soul jazz elements with a bluesy, swinging sound and emphasis on melodic, accessible improvisation, and was active mainly in the late 1950s and 1960s.
