Temple of the Dog
Temple of the Dog was an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1990 as a tribute project led by Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell in memory of Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone. The group featured musicians who were involved with the emerging Seattle scene, including Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and later Eddie Vedder, with Matt Cameron on drums. Their sound blends elements of grunge and classic rock influences, characterized by Cornell's expressive vocals, layered guitars and a mix of contemplative ballads and heavier rock numbers. They recorded a self-titled album in 1991 and are often mentioned in discussions of the early 1990s Seattle music community.
