Shabazz Palaces

Shabazz Palaces is an American experimental hip hop group formed in Seattle in 2009, led by Ishmael Butler with contributions from Tendai Maraire and other collaborators. Their sound mixes abstract, stream-of-consciousness lyrics with electronic production, unconventional song structures, layered and sparse beats, and influences from African percussion and Afrofuturist aesthetics, resulting in dense, atmospheric music that pushes beyond mainstream hip hop conventions.
