Pauline Oliveros

Pauline Oliveros (United States, died 2016) was an American composer and accordionist associated with experimental and electronic music. She developed the practice of Deep Listening, emphasizing expanded awareness of sound through focused listening, improvisation, and the blending of acoustic and electronic sources. Her work often combined composed frameworks with open improvisation and placed attentive listening at the center of musical practice.
