Pat Metheny Group

Pat Metheny Group is an American jazz fusion band formed in 1978, led by guitarist Pat Metheny with longtime collaborator keyboardist Lyle Mays. Their music blends jazz improvisation with elements of rock, ambient textures, and world music, characterized by lyrical guitar melodies, layered keyboards and synthesizers, and carefully arranged ensemble interplay. The group is noted for a distinctive, atmospheric sound and a compositional approach that helped shape contemporary jazz and fusion.
