Nação Zumbi

Nação Zumbi is a Brazilian band formed in Recife in 1991 and associated with the manguebeat movement; they blend rock, punk, hip-hop, funk and northeastern rhythms such as maracatu, combining electric guitars and bass with prominent drums and percussion. The group emerged around vocalist and co-founder Chico Science and continued with different lineups after his death in 1997, and are known for fusing regional percussion traditions with contemporary urban sounds.
