Morton Subotnick

Morton Subotnick is an American composer and an early pioneer of electronic music, noted for his work with modular synthesizers and tape techniques. His compositions focus on timbre, texture, and rhythm created through electronic means, and he was a cofounder of the San Francisco Tape Music Center. Subotnick has composed for concert settings as well as theater and dance, and he has been involved in the development of live and interactive electronic performance practices.
