Morphine

Morphine was an American band formed in 1990 that cultivated a low, smoky sound built around Mark Sandman's deep vocals and unconventional low-string slide bass, Dana Colley's baritone saxophone, and spare drum arrangements. Their music combined elements of blues, jazz, and alternative rock into a minimalist, groove-oriented style that stood out for its unusual instrumentation and mood. The group disbanded in 1999 after Sandman's death.
