Mickey Newbury

Mickey Newbury was an American singer-songwriter whose work combined country, folk, blues, and soul elements with poetic, often melancholic lyrics. His recordings are noted for atmospheric arrangements and a focus on mood and storytelling, and his songs were widely covered by other performers. Newbury is regarded as an important influence on later Americana and country songwriting; he died in 2002.
