McCoy Tyner

McCoy Tyner was an American jazz pianist known for a powerful, percussive touch, wide quartal chord voicings and a modal, post-bop approach to harmony and rhythm. He came to prominence as the pianist in John Coltrane's 1960s quartet and later led his own groups, focusing on extended improvisation, rhythmic drive and dense harmonic textures. He died in 2020.
