Keith Tippett

Keith Tippett was a British pianist and composer whose work bridged jazz, free improvisation, and contemporary classical influences. Active from the late 1960s, he led small ensembles and larger projects and was known for inventive, exploratory piano playing, a focus on collective improvisation, and a willingness to mix composed material with free-form approaches. He collaborated across jazz and progressive music circles and was a prominent figure in the UK avant-garde jazz scene; he died in 2020.
