Japan

Japan was a British band formed in 1974 and active until 1982. They moved from glam and punk-tinged beginnings toward a sleek, synth-forward art pop and new wave sound characterized by atmospheric arrangements, prominent synthesizers and David Sylvian's distinctive baritone vocals. The group's stylized image and artful approach placed them within late 1970s and early 1980s British post-punk and new romantic currents.
