Gil Evans

Gil Evans was a jazz arranger, composer, and pianist known for his inventive, orchestral approach to jazz arranging, using distinctive voicings and uncommon instrumental colors in large ensembles. He worked closely with Miles Davis on several influential recording projects in the 1950s and 1960s and later led his own ensembles, helping expand the sonic palette and arranging techniques used in postwar jazz.
