Georges Brassens

Georges Brassens was a French singer-songwriter and poet associated with the chanson tradition, usually accompanying himself on acoustic guitar and singing in a conversational, intimate style. His work is known for literate, often ironic or satirical lyrics that use wordplay to address love, friendship, death, and social norms, with sparse musical arrangements that foreground the text. He is closely associated with mid-20th century French popular music and died in 1981.
