Gato Barbieri

Gato Barbieri (Argentina, died 2016) was a tenor saxophonist known for a raw, passionate tone and for blending free jazz improvisation with melodies and rhythms drawn from Argentine folk, tango, and Andean music; his later work moved toward Latin jazz and fusion, and he also did film soundtrack work, making him a widely recognized figure in Latin-influenced jazz.
