Gal Costa

Gal Costa was a Brazilian singer associated with the Tropicália movement and the broader MPB tradition. Her voice was noted for its warmth and flexibility, and her recordings blended elements of bossa nova, samba, pop, and experimental sounds. She began her career in the 1960s and remained a prominent presence in Brazilian music for decades, often collaborating with contemporaries like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. She died in 2022.
