Cannonball Adderley
Cannonball Adderley (1928–1975) was an American alto saxophonist whose warm, blues-inflected tone and exuberant, lyrical improvisation helped shape hard bop and soul jazz. He led groups that often featured his brother Nat Adderley on cornet and also worked as a sideman with major jazz figures in the late 1950s and 1960s, combining sophisticated improvisation with a direct, accessible sound.
