Camarón de la Isla

Camarón de la Isla, born José Monje Cruz, was a Spanish flamenco singer from Cádiz who died in 1992. He was known for an intense, expressive vocal delivery and for pushing flamenco toward new arrangements and sounds through close collaborations with guitarists such as Paco de Lucía. His approach combined deep knowledge of traditional flamenco forms with a willingness to experiment, and he is often regarded as a major influence on contemporary flamenco singers and ensembles.
