Blue Cheer

Blue Cheer was an American rock band formed in 1966 that played a loud, heavily distorted blend of blues-based rock and psychedelic sounds. With an early power-trio lineup and emphasis on high volume, fuzzed guitar tones, and raw, stripped-down arrangements, they are often cited as a forerunner of heavier rock styles that later became associated with early heavy metal and stoner or doom sounds. The group underwent numerous lineup changes and intermittent activity before disbanding in 2009.
