Ben Webster

Ben Webster was an American jazz tenor saxophonist known for a warm, breathy tone and expressive ballad playing. He emerged during the swing era and worked with major big bands, including a notable period with Duke Ellington's orchestra. His sound combined a robust, husky middle register with a softer, intimate approach on slower pieces, and he spent his later years based in Europe before his death in 1973.
