Ben Folds Five is an American band formed in 1993, centered on pianist and singer Ben Folds with bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee. The trio favors piano-driven arrangements instead of electric guitar, blending elements of alternative rock, pop, and jazz with literate, often witty lyrics and tight three-piece interplay, and they became associated with energetic, band-focused live performances.
