Arto Lindsay

Arto Lindsay is an American guitarist, singer, and composer known for blending experimental no wave and avant-garde guitar techniques with Brazilian rhythms and textures. Emerging from New York’s late 1970s no wave scene, his work often pairs atonal or prepared-guitar sounds and fragile, whispered vocals with elements of bossa nova and samba, creating a tension between dissonance and lyricism. He has collaborated across experimental and Brazilian music circles and is noted for bridging U.S. avant-garde practices with Brazilian popular music.
