Art Ensemble of Chicago

Art Ensemble of Chicago is an American avant-garde jazz collective formed in 1965 and associated with the AACM. The group blends free improvisation and composed material, using multi-instrumentalism, extended techniques, percussion and small nontraditional instruments, and often incorporates theatrical elements and references to African and other non-Western musical practices.
