Archie Shepp

Archie Shepp is an American saxophonist associated with the 1960s free jazz and avant-garde movements; his playing is noted for a raw, expressive tenor tone and a strong connection to blues and African-American musical traditions, often incorporating political themes and spoken word elements, and in later decades he also explored more traditional jazz forms and African influences while working as an educator.
