Alla Rakha

Alla Rakha was an Indian tabla player known for his role in Hindustani classical percussion, working both as an accompanist and as a soloist. He collaborated with sitarists such as Ravi Shankar and was influential in presenting the tabla to international concert audiences. His playing was noted for clear articulation of bols, rhythmic precision, and improvisational interplay within tala cycles. He was the father of tabla player Zakir Hussain and died in 2000.
