Ali Farka Touré

Ali Farka Touré was a Malian singer and guitarist who died in 2006. He blended traditional Malian musical structures and rhythms with elements of American blues, creating a spare, cyclical, guitar-driven sound and a deep, weathered vocal delivery. His music often emphasizes acoustic guitar, modal melodies and repetitive grooves that reflect the musical traditions of northern Mali and the Sahel.
