Ali Akbar Khan

Ali Akbar Khan was an Indian sarod player and teacher associated with the Maihar gharana of Hindustani classical music. Trained by his father, Allauddin Khan, he was noted for extended raga performances, emphasis on melodic development and improvisation, and for teaching and promoting Hindustani classical music internationally, including through the Ali Akbar College of Music in California.
