Alan Vega

Alan Vega was an American singer, songwriter and visual artist best known as one half of the electronic protopunk duo Suicide. His music paired sparse, repetitive synthesizer and drum machine patterns with a raw, confrontational vocal style, and his solo work ranged from experimental electronic pieces to rock-tinged recordings that explored nocturnal urban life and alienation. Vega is regarded as an early figure linking electronic soundscapes with punk and post-punk attitudes, and he maintained an active parallel practice in visual art. He died in 2016.
